Pug    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This poor boy was brought to a Veterinary office in the Upper Peninsula to be euthanized because his owner was moving and did not want to take him with him. 'Pug Luv' was contacted by the Veterinary office and asked if the owner signed a release, could he be taken into our program. He was brought up to date on his vaccines, neutered, had heart-worm blood and fecal testing and had his teeth cleaned. His name is Buddy, he is 4 years old, but it does not appear that he was really anyone's buddy based on his appearance. He suffers from severe skin issues, worms, bi-lateral ear infections and possibly flea allergies. The dark areas on his ... (Read More)body are not dark fur but areas where there is no fur and it is his skin. His interaction with people does not appear that he had much love in his prior home. He will be treated by the 'Pug Luv' vet for all of his conditions, placed in a foster home where ongoing treatment for all of his conditions will be done and shown what it is to be loved. Update 2/18/15: Skin biopsies have been sent to MSU for analysis. His skin is very thick and it appears that his body is working very hard to fight the skin condition he has. He is slightly anemic as a result. Once the skin biopsies have been analyzed a course of treatment will be done. Once all of his medical conditions are resolved he will be available for adoption. If you are interested in adopting Buddy or any of the Pugs currently residing with 'Pug Luv' go to michiganpugrescue.com where you click on the Adopt tab to download, print, complete and mail in an application for adoption or you may make a donation to help with his care . She had her vaccines brought up to date, as well as all the testing, teeth cleaned and has now been spayed, microchipped and her teeth cleaned. The severe redness of her eyes is a result of severe dry eye that has not been treated for years. She is crate and potty trained. The initial treatment of her eyes did not result in the condition being completely resolved. ... (Read More)She was seen by the Ophthalmologist on March 2nd. Her severe dry eye is partially a result of her inability to completely close her eyes when she sleeps. As a result the eyes dry out at night. She was prescribed 3 eye medicines 3 times a day in addition to an eye lubricant that must be applied each night to retain the moisture in her eyes. She will be re-evaluated by the Ophthalmologist in 2 months to determine if she has improved sufficiently enough to be adopted.
